Questions
Is BlackJackal free?
Yes. BlackJackal is free on the App Store with every training mode and lesson included, and 21 hands a day. A one-time Lifetime unlock removes the daily limit and lets you set your own table rules. There is no subscription.
Is there any real money involved?
No. BlackJackal is an education app. There are no bets, chips to buy, or prizes. Results are counted in units so you can see what each decision is worth.
What does EV mean?
Expected value: the average result of a play over the long run, per unit bet. Standing on hard 16 against a dealer 10 is worth about −0.54, so you lose about 54 cents per dollar on average by standing. BlackJackal shows the EV of every option, so you can see how far apart the choices really are.
How is it different from a strategy chart?
A chart tells you what to do. BlackJackal shows what each option is worth and explains why the book play wins, so the right play still makes sense after a bad beat. It also remembers the hands you miss and what those mistakes cost.
Does it teach card counting?
No. BlackJackal teaches basic strategy: the best play for each hand, given the cards you can see. It is the foundation every counting system is built on.
Which table rules does it use?
Free play uses a six-deck table where the dealer hits soft 17 and blackjack pays 3:2. With the Lifetime unlock you can choose 1, 2, 4, 6 or 8 decks, whether the dealer hits or stands on soft 17, double after split, late surrender, penetration, and a 3:2 or 6:5 payout. Every grade follows the rules you set.
Does it work on iPhone Duo?
Yes. BlackJackal is ready for iPhone Duo at launch. Closed, the whole table fits the outer display. Open it, and the table takes one side while your coaching and session take the other.
